WFMW - Audio Books

My kids love to read and be read to. Especially my oldest. They also get bored easily, while sitting in the cart shopping and in the car. Pretty much when they're not doing anything other than just sitting. Sometimes they find things to do on their own, but more often then not, they end up fighting. So a while back, I went to LibriVox and downloaded some free audio books to put on my phone (which also plays MP3's without a headset needed).   They're older books, classics like Alice and Wonderland and Peter Pan, but my kids love listening to them and they're FREE!  So, now when I'm shopping for a while and they're getting  bored, I hand over my phone with an audio book playing, quietly and the trip is a lot less stressful.

There are other places that have free audio books as well (feel free to post sources in comments!). Or you can get audio books on CD from the library, one of our local ones even lets you check them out on an MP3 player if you don't have one!  Another great resource that more and more libraries are offering is downloadable audio books that you can listen to for a certain amount of time and then delete.  And of course you can buy them online from places like Audible.

Audiobooks are definitely working for us!  Head over to our We Are that Family for this week's Works for Me Wednesday!

Great tip! I heard about libriVox a while ago, but forgot...I need to check them out.
We have the Story of the World CD's and so usually when we are out and about, they listen to those a lot.

My brother downloaded a bunch of those stories for my kids for christmas. They are the same ones I used to listen to, too!
Then I bought the books on ebay to go with many of the same stories. usually the Disney ones.
